The Institute of the History of Charles University and Archive of Charles University is a university institute of Charles University.
Its scientific activities focus on the history of Charles University and the history of schools and education in the Czech Lands.
According to Act No. 499/2004 Coll. Sb. on Archiving and Records Management and on the Amendment of Selected Acts, it is apublic specialised archive. It keeps and manages mainly archival materials created in the course of activities of Charles University and supervises records management of all parts of Charles University.

Tuesday: 8:00-12:00
Wednesday: 9:00-12:00 12:30-16:00
Dear researchers,
We would like to inform that since May 1, 2019 the access to the catalogues of students of individual faculties of Charles University and German University in Prague will be limited due their bad physical condition and necessary preservation. The access could be allowed only in exceptional cases, justified by scientific or other essential reasons. In such case, you can address the request for access to the relevant administrator of the archival fund and in copy to the head of the Archive of Charles University .
Most of the information concerning students of Charles University and German University in Prague you can find in the archival material that was already digitized. The catalogues of students will be fully accessible again after their conservation and digitization.
